"Being arrested for killing a 'nigger' was no doubt a surprise to Mr. Abbott, who, reports have it, has killed other negros [sic] and pounded up a few more. . . . The man may come clear but he will find it a little different than in Alabama and may wait till he gets out of Kansas before being to[o] hasty again."
