During the summer of 2004, there were a number of construction projects underway in downtown Baton Rouge. Several office buildings were being built, as were a number of condominium complexes that would eventually offer affluent Baton Rouge residents the opportunity to live on the downtown riverfront. Seen in the distance is the spire of St. Joseph's Cathedral, built in 1853, with its Gothic Revival steeple, added in 1891.
